Xbox 360 vs. PlayStation 3 vs. Nintendo Wii: A Technical Comparison
It’s the battle of the ages, played out with a new generation of hardware that, for the first time, appears to leave all but the most high-end gaming PCs in the dust. Opinions about Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 vary, but it’s pretty clear that both devices kick serious butt from a technical perspective. Looking over the specifications, and listening to representatives of both companies, however, I’ve come away with a few general thoughts.

the Ps3 and x box 360 are good but there exactly the same as the old ones only they look different and they have better graphics but the wii however is easier small and it brings a whole different game play to the world of gamers lol plus its good exercise

Read the reports of engineers. PS3 was over rated and the cell processer looks to be pretty bunk for gameplay. Xbox 360 will win this war no doubt in the US and will out perform PS3 it is fact!!!!!!!!!!

Oh gosh get over yourselves. 360 is scrambling to keep up with Sony, why do you think they are getting to release their third version? They know they are behind already. they copied 1080p gaming straight from the ps3.
By the time mid 07 rollls around only 50 percent of Cells capabilities would have been tapped. This straight from Factor Five, a game develeping company.
I dare you to read interviews with SquareEnix and see how they boast the power of the PS3, I dare you. Hahaha. the war is between Wii and PS3, but I suppose you could go buy another xbox when they are forced to release one in a few years. hahaha

Whatever Bart! You have no idea what you are talking about!! First of all 1080P was not designed by Sony. It is not like they came up with this new idea K. Many components will be using this technology! Their is a long list of things PS3 has copied from the 360 as well so your argument is as weak as circus lemonaid. Again check the majority of programers it really pretty simple dude. You will read 9 programers that are in favor of the 360 for every one for ps3. I’m very much into believing the ps3 would win, unfortunately I’ve seen & played gears of war - a real next gen game with it’s greatest feat not being it’s graphics (that do leave everything in the dust) but it’s gameplay - it’s fun! Having played the ps3 at lauch I was stoked, having played the 360 and cutting free of my internal dialogue (Yanks bad, japan good, squaresoft good? epic megagames bad.. erm, name?) I’ve decided it’s time to play games & stop worrying.
I enjoyed the hell out of my dreamcast & don’t really care that a few years down the road it was a flop, strangely I envy the saturn owners prior to that and lately I’ve stopped hating on certain companies (you have to grow up some day right?) and will now proceed to get a console for it’s worth in games, only my girl gets to see my you-know-what so why should I flaunt it out here
I’m getting a 360, I don’t feel compelled to buy nintendo despite the common thought-parties saying they owe it to them & don’t intend to buy a ps3 simply because I don’t really have to do I.
Most of all, I don’t expect you to buy 360 because of any of my reasons or anyone elses reasons. I was just bored right now & thought I’d share my comments
There’s enough advertising out there without the massive amount from fanboys & alot of stress generated from it so get yourself a mocha/coffee/tea before you decide on this one alright.

Xbox 360! buy a computer and use media player connect. Xbox 360 was released earler than ps3 so the drive is lower tech so if any one has a 1080p tv your rich enough to spend what ever on a 1080p drive. ps3 video games don’t look too different than that of xbox 360 even G4 can’t realy tell the difference in the games exept there may be differnt features. The only differnce is ps3 has a darker screen. SO PIZZ OF PS3 LOVER.

yeah people are getting tired of same games better graphics, the wii has a new concept and some friends of mine who own a 360 said they wanted my wii, it is very contagious,. The 360 isn’t that much different than the original except some graphics and their online capability, the ps3 is for really rich people, who has other rich friends, i don’t think an ordinary person will get their money’s worth of it, you can buy a 360 and a wii for that price.and seriously before you talk about consoles owning other consoles in sales look at the results http://www.nexgenwars.com . yeah the 360 is winning but if you look monthly you’ll see the wii is catching up, so the wii and the 360 are probably going to come out with a tie. oh and super smash bros brawl is wanted just as much as halo 3, but people who are going to buy halo 3 are people who already own a 360, too bad the PS3 has no good games coming out in the near future that compares to these two…also wii games coming out for the future that’ll get a lot of people to buy it, SSBB, super mario galaxy, paper mario whatever, metroid prime 3, wii music(you can play the drums with the wiimotes being your durm sticks) and mario party 8, also there is a game coming out called mario and sonic in the olympics, lots of fans has been waiting for a gmae that includes these two characters. If you where god of the gaming industry, you would know that the only reason the Wii has been sold out is because they where not producing enough units in there first shipments to cover the demand of the public and as a result this may look like the Wii is selling oh so well but in reality, nintendo is just a bad buisness and like you say, people who buy a Wii are waiting for the mario games of the metriod games and as for sonic and mario in some childish olympics game, who gives a fack? this proves that the only fan base for the Wii is people who play metroid and zelda… nintendo is dying a slow death, accept it

again please don’t write anything unless you know what your talking about, zelda is also a gamecube game, it’s not meant to be the wii’s best game, just the wii’s best launch game. super smash bros brawl is meant to be it. PS3 dosn’t have any good games, it has too much power that third party game companies don’t want to be a part of it, atari already said they’re not making any games for it and seriously, there are no good first party or second part games for PS3, metz, snake is going to be better in brawl than his new game, who the fuck cares about a soccer game, and manhunt 2 is going to be just as good as GTA 4, plus that’s also coming out for the 360, so your not really saying anything, and zelda is a kick-ass game, i’ll admit is ff is better than the zelda series, i won 12 and T.P. and i’d rather play T.P. or paper mario over it anyday

Alrighty, i know its sooner then expected, but i just finished everything and have something to add. So far, I like the fact that brent knows what he is talking about, statistically thinking he is right. Now About the ps3 being brand new and just coming out October sometime, lets see ps3 had come out about November i think, now with that note of the ps3 being a BRAND NEW SYSTEM, with them not being release that far apart and wii still kicking its butt, alli have to say is wow. Now onto sales, xbox 360 supposedly 3rd version, i just read about it, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS ITS BLACK AND ITS A 120 GB HARD DRIVE. now the point for the 1080p, ur saying that ALL the TV companies copied the 1080p, OR even 1080i off sony, now thats a good laugh. But one thing is, i talked to about 16 of my “Sony spanks all” friends had converted to the 360. Now my point i mentioned earlier about the glitchyness (Frame rate can be seen clearly) i have talked to someone from Gamestop (exp employer) the reason ps3 is so glitchy is cause it is MEANT TO BE PLAYed EXCLUSIVELY FOR 1080P/I. If it is anything less, it has to *in his words* DUMBIFY THE SYSTEM* thats why is shows the frame rate, not marketing, if it is meant for 1080p/i Why the heck did they ship their demo systems with a 720p flat panel tv ????? no answers???? Now i’m not saying it sucks, it has its ups, but its downs is why i never plan to get one. No veriety, just $600 bucks and a few games, and thats it. at least 360 u can choose which package u want.

personally i like the wii and the 360. i own a 360 and i think it kicks ass. my friend has a wii which is fun too. it is all about what you want, if you want good games and good graphics go with 360. if you want a great game experience with a new twist go with wii. i dont think ps3 is a good choice though. it sounds like its very similar to 360 but its 200 dollars more. even though i really like it i also think the wii might be a fad and wont be able to keep its sales up. but what do i know i like them both alot.

I have to agree with ryan, if you want to go for gameplay, get a nes, or even a sega if you prefer. But i think PS3 was just released WAY before its time. Not everyone has 600 bucks and not everyone has 1080i/p televisions, and blue ray is just overrated for its own being right now. not to also mention it is not a very reliable system.

The Wii would definitly win, mainly for the fact that the PS3 is exactly the same as a PS2, just with better graphics and blu-ray, and so is the X-Box 360. The Wii, however, doesn’t focus on upgrades but focuses on a whole new way to play games. It’s not only an upgrade, but a whole new world to gaming.
If Nintendo needs to sacrifice graphics for overall gaming creativity, they definitly pulled it off. Seriously.
