USBCELL batteries reviewed
It’s not too often that you see a review of AA batteries here on Engadget. But then again, the USBCELL AA batteries aren’t just your garden-variety portable cells, either. Our compadres over at TrustedReviews have just taken a set of these fine USB-chargeable batteries for a spin, and have given them a pretty favorable review. After charging a set of ‘em for use with a Fuji FinePix cam, TrustedReviews found that it took over 500 snapshots for the batteries to give up. By comparison, a set of Duracell Alkaline batteries only lasted for “a few pictures.” The review concludes: “For a combination of convenience and eco-friendliness then the USB Cells get the thumbs up. Once a wider range becomes available and if the price [$24 for a pair] can drop a little, then they’ll could well do for batteries what USB memory sticks did for floppy discs and virtually kill them off.” We can’t wait to try ‘em ourselves.

Fui na Bienal, beber água, não achei!
Neste fim de semana, estive em São Paulo para ver a 27a. Bienal. Ela gira em torno do tema “Como viver juntos”. Da exposição como um todo, posso trazer o fato muito positivo que alguns estados brasileiros artisticamente esquecidos tiveram espaço e destaque, principalmente o estado do Acre.

Naturalmente o leitor já ouviu falar da Web 2.0. O termo esta cada vez mais em voga, apesar de ter uma significancia bastante ampla, e muitas vezes um pouco nebulosa. Quanto mais divulgada e popular é a expressão, mais os limites de sua definição ficam indeterminados. Assim, as linhas abaixo procuram definir uma síntese do que, ao menos originalmente, se trata a já famosa Web 2.0.

The drink cooler is a stainless steel ball with a “super-secret liquid core”, and you put this shiny orb in the freezer for an hour and then it can chill down that cocktail really quickly. It’s supposed to be able to keep that drink frosty for a lot longer than ordinary ice without watering down your drink. It’s $29.99.

Kassab: Adeus postes e fios!
O polêmico prefeito de São Paulo, Gilberto Kasssab, aprovou um projeto fantástico, continuando na sua missão de limpar a cidade de São Paulo: uma lei que obriga a enterrar TODOS OS FIOS da cidade. No lugar dos postes, deverão ser plantadas ÁRVORES. Cada concessionária ficará responsável por enterrar sua parte e o cronograma de ‘enterro’ será definido pela prefeitura.
